One day, a man showed up in the middle of the night. “I have been sent to take you away,” he said. With smiling faces, they silently and quickly ran away from the prison, all the way to the man’s house.
When they got there, he was kind enough to give them water, jobs, and all of the vegetables that they could pick from his garden. They had been there for a couple months when they said to the man, “back in the prison, we were fed bread, and fruit; why did you take us away, just to feed us worse than we were fed in prison?”
Choking back tears, the man answered, “I took you away from the whipping, and hatred of your master, only to get complaints from you ungrateful people; you are free to leave!”
(This is not a true story, by the way. It's a parable. :))
